Collection: Leeann E. Vázquez Alemán

Leeann E. Vázquez Alemán is a Puerto Rican visual artist born in Ponce and currently based in Aguadilla. Her practice spans painting, sculpture, and illustration. Her work explores everyday Caribbean scenes through a contemporary visual perspective, transforming them into narratives where the emotional, cultural, and symbolic converge.

Her artistic language is defined by the use of color, humor, and irreverence to address themes related to personal experience and popular culture. Through a playful and expressive approach, she creates imagery that moves between the real and the imagined. A recurring element in her work is La Gallita, a character born from anxiety that evolves into a figure of resistance, irony, and identity affirmation.

She graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico with a degree in Fine Arts. In 2016, she collaborated with El Taller de la Playa by Antonio Martorell. In 2017, she lived in Berlin, where she studied at ESDIP Art School and presented the project Levántate.

Her work has been featured in exhibitions such as Espiral (2019), a solo show, and En/Fuera Colectiva Fem (2022). She also participated in the Lost Coast Art Colony residency in Quebradillas (2024), culminating in the exhibition Una Mirada con Color. In 2025, her work was exhibited in Puerto Rican Women in the Arts in Chicago and at the Liga de Arte de San Juan.

She continues to develop new projects and participate in exhibitions throughout Puerto Rico.
